NXT Compass

Just for the fun I made a compass out of my LEGO Mindstorms NXT (part no: 53788) together with the HiTechnic NXT Compass sensor. I made a NXT-G program that display a compass needle that always point in the direction of the north pole.

I found out that the HiTechnic Compass sensor should not be to close to the NXT, because it no longer sense the correct direction then.

Download the NXT-G compass program here: www.techbricks.nl/downloads/compass.rbt
For this program you need to download the following NXT-G blocks:
Xcoor.rbt: www.techbricks.nl/downloads/X_coor.rbt
Ycoor.rbt: www.techbricks.nl/downloads/Y_coor.rbt

You also need the NXT-G Cosine/Sine block made by Claude Baumann: http://www.restena.lu/convict/Jeunes/nxt_one/ sine_cosine_nxt.htm

note: A compass doesn't point exact to the north pole (or to LEGO land). It point out the magnetic north pole which is, depending on your place on earth, more or less the same.
